Ennepetal. Security, Europe’s leading trade fair for security and fire prevention, opens its doors on September 23, 2014. DORMA will be a real presence at this important exhibition, showcasing its capabilities on four days at Stand 606 in Hall 3 under the banner slogan “Access to Safety & Security”. Among the highlights on display will be the new product family MATRIX AIR and also the MATRIX access control software platform, which has now been extended to include time and attendance recording.
“The ‘Electronic Access Solutions’ business has been assigned a key role in our DORMA 2020 global growth strategy,” says Udo Hoffmann, DORMA’s Area Germany President. “Hence we will be using our booth in Essen to show our comprehensive portfolio of access and time solutions – systems that many companies, from SMEs to internationally structured DAX corporations, have learned to trust over many years of successful operation.”
Following on from its attendance of Germany’s fensterbau/frontale – the trade show for windows, doors and façades – in March 2014, DORMA’s appearance in Essen marks the second milestone in a major year of exhibitions for the company. The third will be BAU 2015 in January. The family-owned enterprise will be attending the Munich show under the motto “Access to Innovation”, and as this suggests, DORMA will be debuting a number of new developments in the fields of door systems and security technology. In Essen, too, visitors can look forward to seeing plenty of new products and further developments of familiar DORMA products and solutions. These will be on show in three themed applications areas:
In the Office zone, DORMA will be showcasing its new MATRIX AIR product family. The versatile MATRIX AIR range encompasses a wide array of electronic door fittings, readers and lock cylinders. The MATRIX AIR design exhibits clearly defined, slender lines, with wireless installation ensuring a discreet appearance. As the shallowest electrical module of its kind, the multiple-award-winning MATRIX AIR is especially suited to prestigious builds. Despite its flat profile, this electronic door fitting with integral access control and card reader unites various functional attributes while also allowing space for all essential components. Through its modular, telescopic housing concept, the MATRIX AIR cylinder range only requires a few models in order to cover just about every conceivable application and installation variant encountered in a building. And these same telescopic cylinders are quick to fit and replace, as well. Moreover, if a company has to move premises, the cylinders and fittings can be dismantled and packed away ready for use on the new doors. And last but not least, there is a Bluetooth interface for fast, easy configuration of the individual MATRIX AIR components, using a tablet app, for example.
The Professional zone highlights DORMA’s expertise in providing complex, networked solutions for emergency exits and escape routes, access control, time data recording, anti-intruder security, and fire prevention, protection and control. The focus here will be on the MATRIX access control system and DORMA’s XS Pro series. MATRIX is a highly advanced software platform, created to control and manage access events and processes both in buildings and around their periphery. When combined with fittings, readers and cylinders of the XS Pro series, it enables the configuration of access control and time data acquisition systems that are scalable to virtually any security requirement and application size. They can be used just as well for a simple door control and locking plan, or in the implementation and management of complex security networks incorporating things like elevator controls, airlock management systems and high-security zones.
The High-End zone features precisely the latter two scenarios mentioned, simulating the interaction between various DORMA components under high-security conditions, for example in the form of an access air lock system.
DORMA will also have a workstation area in which it will be providing visitors with an opportunity to properly check out the latest version of the MATRIX software. Because – as mentioned – in addition to its access control functionality, so highly regarded by many major companies, this latest release can also be used to capture time and attendance data.
The DORMA display will be rounded off by a product overview allowing visitors to do more than just take one more close look at the individual components from the variously themed zones – for they will also be given an insight into the DORMA’s new DCF mechatronic master key system. This is expected to be ready for sale by the end of the year, with the added benefit of extensive combinability with the different models of mechanical cylinder available from the DORMA portfolio.
Measuring around 250 square meters (2,700 square feet), the DORMA booth will feature the same kind of architectural lines as revealed at BAU 2013. Taking center stage will be the MATRIX AIR product range. Aside from a focused, content-rich presentation supported by a large media wall, there will also be a live demo of the technology. And there will be a chance for a bit of fun in the form of a digital prize competition that challenges visitors to remember and identify the product and its key attributes – a great way to make both the technology and the visit to the DORMA booth truly memorable.
