DORMA strengthens Executive Board
Strategy programme in the spotlight: With Katharina Pahl (41) and Oliver Schubert (44), two internationally experienced professionals newly appointed
Ennepetal. The generation change at DORMA's top management level that began last year with the appointment of Thomas P. Wagner as CEO and Chairman of DORMA Holding's Executive Board continues to take shape. Since the beginning of 2011, the Executive Board has also been benefiting from the presence of new members Katharina Pahl (41) and Oliver Schubert (44). Personnel management expert Pahl, who was previously with Metro AG, now holds the newly created position of DORMA's Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Schubert, meanwhile, has taken over the reins as Chief Operations Officer (COO) from Lothar Linde who, having reached 62 years of age, has retired from his position in the Group's operational management. Also on the Executive Board is Michael Flacke, who continues in his role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The DORMA 2020 strategy programme introduced at the end of 2010 aims at further enhancing the Group's competitiveness and increasing its market share over the next decade. By 2020, DORMA wants to see revenues rise to €2 billion and return on sales double. "This means increasing our global workforce to over 10,000 people - a huge yet positive challenge," said DORMA CEO Thomas P. Wagner when announcing the strategy. For this reason, it is necessary to expand human resources management as a strategic cornerstone of DORMA's business operations. "We want to attract hard-working, committed employees and develop them to a high level. This also includes the systematic identification and development of future specialist staff and managers," Wagner explained.
In view of the elevated strategic significance of personnel management, DORMA has newly created the post of CHRO within the holding company's Executive Board, with Katharina Pahl the incumbent since January 1, 2011. She brings with her extensive expertise in the areas of personnel development, strategic talent management, succession planning and manager development. As an HR expert, Pahl has previously held managerial positions in personnel at OBI and Kaufhof, and successfully headed Global HR at Metro Group Buying International, Düsseldorf, part of the Metro Group.
Before joining the DORMA Group on January 1, 2011, Oliver Schubert was Production Director at commercial trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull AG. With his years of experience gained in lean management in the automotive industry, he will play a key role in driving forward the internationalisation of DORMA's own LEAN strategy. Schubert previously held various executive positions at an international level within commercial vehicle group MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG. As Chairman of the Management Board of MAN Star Trucks & Buses in Poland and member of the Management Board of Neoman Bus GmbH, he was responsible for the city bus business of the brands MAN and NEOPLAN. Prior to that, Schubert worked for automotive company Porsche AG in Stuttgart where he was responsible for managing factory and logistics planning.
