Small, compact and quiet – “Cassini”, the sophisticated swing door operator for office and home
 The need for a swing door operator is not always immediately obvious. It is only when you are standing in front of a closed door with a hand full of files that you suddenly think how nice it would be to simply have to whisper “Open Sesame” (as in that famous story from 1001 Arabian Nights) to make the door open magically.
Today, however, you neither need extra-sensory capabilities nor massive financial resources to be able to enjoy such – often essential – convenience. Indeed, a prototype on show in Munich offers precisely the solution sought: a compact, plug-and-go automatic swing door operator under the name of “Cassini” is being show-cased by DORMA. It is an extremely quiet and compact drive unit, is easily installed and, thanks to the DIN fixing hole pattern, can be retrofitted – almost with a wave of the hand – in place of a previously mounted door closer.
This innovative new electro-mechanical operator satisfies all the functional require-ments likely to be encountered in an office setting, and can also be combined with safety devices, an electric strike system, access control or a comfortable push-and-go function – known as the “Servo” mode. In such cases, the door is unlocked in the conventional manner and then opens with virtually zero effort on the part of the user. Once the user has passed through, it closes again gently, quietly and automatically under its own motorised power.
The “Cassini” is ideal for installation or retrofitting in both homes and offices – or for satisfying individual convenience, security and safety requirements such as ensuring reliable disabled access within a building.
For special applications, therefore, it will be possible to equip the “Cassini” with a range of sophisticated accessories – from radar detector and radio remote control activators to access control and communication elements such as voice output (“Door opening”/“Door closing”) and a traffic light function in the form of a red or green illuminated “light bar”. An optional backup battery power pack will also ensure that the system will function in the event of a power failure.
With its discrete, high-quality design, the “Cassini” merges into any ambience – from the office to the sophisticated dwelling environment.

Universally suitable thanks to a wide range of auxiliary functions, the new “Cassini” electro-magnetic swing door operator is an individually adaptable, elegant and attractive solution for door automation in the office and in the home.
