DORMA Automatic Innovations IV
Sophisticated and elegant: The single-leaf sliding door operator “Celsius” for office, hotel and private domains
In the yesteryears, it was regarded as almost obligatory to have a uniformed attendant open the doors for patrons entering one’s establishment. In one respect, little has changed because, even today, a door opened to customers and visitors is still perceived as an inviting gesture. However, servants and the like are both too expensive and too much part of a bygone age. Now we have – eminently affordable – advanced technology to open and close our doors automatically for us. Such systems can, incidentally, also contribute to accelerating work processes while reducing unnecessary effort.
While door automation has previously been primarily restricted to entrances or barrier-free building, unhindered, convenient passage is now becoming increasingly demanded in office buildings, hotels and in the private dwelling sector as well.
With the “Celsius”, a small sliding door operator on show in Munich as a prototype, DORMA is offering a tailored drive solution for single-leaf sliding doors which, thanks to their space-saving effect, are suitable not only for the project sector but also in the private domain.
The small but nevertheless powerful operator is able to actuate sliding doors up to a maximum weight of 80 kg. It can be used for both corridor and face-fixed applications. Designed as a slender track profile with a cross section of just 60 x 50 mm, and featuring an integrated control unit and power pack, this unit is not only ideal both for new installations and retrofitting but will, thanks to its elegant, unobtrusive appearance, also blend into any architectural concept.
Its high opening speed is particularly suitable for control and service areas, and wherever discretion or draught minimisation is required. This new development, due shortly to become available on the market, not only impresses through its high DORMA-typical quality and design, but also by its affordable price which, in combination with easy fixing, renders it particularly interesting for those considering a retrofit.

The small, elegant “Celsius” operator for single-leaf sliding doors up to a maximum weight of 80 kg, presented by DORMA as a prototype at BAU, offers universal application capabilities. DORMA collaboration partner BOS (Hall B2 / Stand 221/320) provides the steel frame for the system. The operator is equally suitable for use in offices and hotels, and also in the private domain, with impressive benefits such as easy fixing and outstanding value for money.
