Taking charge of the future – A generation change to secure stability

Ennepetal, Germany. The succession arrangements involving the transfer of ownership of small and medium-sized enterprises to the next generation need to be planned well in advance. At DORMA, the essential corporate and socially relevant responsibilities intrinsic to this process are taken very seriously.

The proprietor family of the DORMA Group has for over 100 years and across three generations been consistently committed to ensuring the continuity and reliability of the DORMA Group. And, having recently celebrated 40 years in the service of the company, Karl-Rudolf Mankel now wishes to ensure that this tradition is continued by the next generation of owners.

Thus previous sole DORMA proprietor Karl-Rudolf Mankel (66) has transferred the majority of his shareholding to his daughters Christine (26) and Stephanie (23).

“This ensures that the generation change can be conducted with my active support in a timely and orderly manner, in keeping with the needs of the company and its employees,” commented the entrepreneur, adding: “We continue to have full confidence in the management team headed by Dr. Michael Schädlich and their ability to control DORMA’s business activities.”

In their role as the fourth generation of DORMA proprietors, Christine and Stephanie intend to continue the family’s commitment to the company’s employees and region of provenance, as already demonstrated by the establishment in 2008 of the Rudolf Mankel Foundation to mark DORMA’s much celebrated centenary.
“We are proud of all the employees that make up the DORMA family. The successes that we have all enjoyed together – and also the challenges both overcome and yet to come – oblige us to continue in the pursuit of excellence as a locally rooted, innovative, world-welcoming and open-minded family company,” affirmed Christine and Stephanie Mankel.
