“Red Dot” design prize for DORMA
Total of five DORMA products awarded
 Ennepetal, Germany. One of the world’s major product design prizes, the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2005” has been won by a remarkable five DORMA products. An international jury of the “Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen“ made the awards in recognition of the high design quality of the creations in question, confirming the innovative talents of DORMA as a door equipment manufacturer. This year’s competition attracted over 1800 entries from 36 countries. And in this, the fiftieth anniversary of the Red Dot design award, DORMA’s winning products were:
• the DORMA TS 97 architectural door closer,
• the door-integral, “Kepler” concealed automatic swing door operator, which also celebrated its world première at BAU 2005 in January,
• the “Cassini” automatic swing door operator for office and home applications,
• the “Celsius” automatic single-panel sliding door operator for office, hotel and private environments, and
• the New Soft Design series “Leonardo” now applied to all DORMA door closers.
The award ceremony will take place as part of a gala occasion to be held in the Aalto Theatre, Essen (Germany) on 4 July, 2005. Last year the event was attended by more than 1200 international guests from the world of design, culture, business and politics. With the Red Dot award, the “Design Zentrum” has created one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the international arena. Products that have won the award thus carry one of the most coveted quality marks – the one that says “exceptional in both function and aesthetics”.
