DORMA at the Essen 2006 Security Trade Fair:
Innovations from micro-solution to major networked project
Ennepetal/Essen, Germany. Leading door system supplier DORMA and its Bonn subsidiary MBB Gelma will both be present at the Essen 2006 Security trade fair from 10 to 13 October, 2006, exhibiting innovative, practical solutions in the fields of security technology, time acquisition and access control.
In Hall 3.0, Stand 606, DORMA – international manufacturer of systems and products circling the door – and renowned software specialist MBB Gelma will be offering Security show visitors new insights for innovative applications in the security domain. The range of the DORMA XS family for such purposes is particularly extensive, extending from inexpensive micro-solutions with standalone access control cylinders and fittings, to network-capable bus-based equipment for prestigious projects. Indeed, the XS product portfolio has now been further complemented through the inclusion of an exceptionally flexible and economic radio link in the form of a transceiver module for online integration within a centralised security environment. Also on show at the stand will be the company’s latest developments in electric strike technology, including the versatile Vario and Lucky models offering smart solutions within the tightest of spaces.
DORMA will also be demonstrating how modern access control and emergency exit security systems can be incorporated within higher-level building management architectures. The interfaces to subsystems such as intruder alarm and fire alarm equipment, and also CCTV, constitute a further focal point of the exhibits on show. Added to this are special applications for major clients such as barrier security systems, wide-area recognition solutions and number-plate identification technology.
Moreover, new, remote-controllable equipment is also to be showcased as a means of enhancing security in public facilities. One example is the company’s panic hardware in combination with emergency escape motor locks with automatic relocking action, or the far-reaching networking possibilities of the DORMA TMS door management system. Now, for the first time, this can be incorporated within a local area network and is capable of transmitting alarm and status messages via OPC or ESPA interfaces.
‘Access on Demand’ from MBB Gelma is an innovative access control system for large corporations and public authorities. It is also ideal for the management and monitoring of both visitors and the employees of external companies – with the emphasis on ensuring maximum security at all times. Visitors to the trade fair will find plenty of ideas at the DORMA stand for contemporary building-enhancing equipment and systems – as well as competent consultants versed in all the relevant disciplines.
Not least, DORMA will also be presenting to its specialist retail partners and installers its multi-faceted customer support model ‘DORMA STARK’. The 4 pillars of this initiative are a new, individual POS exhibition concept; a B2B webshop on the Internet which offers – online and on a 24/7 basis – all the products from DORMA STA (Security Time Access); the liquidity protection program PROT€CT for DORMA’s ‘System Partners’; and an electronic product guide.

The new XS door cylinder and the XS fitting with online network integratability add a further dimension to the flexibility and range of applications of this key-less access control system – irrespective of the door situation.
