DORMA combines panic hardware with motor lock

New combined panic exit device and access control system to EN 1125

Ennepetal, Germany. A plus for more safety and security in public buildings: at the Essen 2006 Security show, DORMA – renowned international system supplier of technology circling the door – will be showcasing a new combination of panic exit device and access control system.

Under the product designation PHA 2500, DORMA has developed a high-quality panic exit device for solid doors in emergency escape routes where safety, security, reliability and aesthetic elegance are all part of the imperative. The system, certified to EN 1125 and winner of the “red dot” design award, is an important component in the DORMA product portfolio for securing emergency exits in public facilities – such as hospitals, universities and schools. It is also ideal for concert halls, shopping malls, hotels and administration buildings, all of which can be readily equipped with this innovative technology.

Fully new is the incorporation of a motor lock with automatic locking action. This enables the door to be opened in an emergency not only at the press of the panic bar but also by remote unlocking via an access control system or from a central control position – and all in less than one second. If an automatic swing door operator is also provided, the door can also be held open as and when required. Moreover, this solution can be retrofitted without problem.

Further improvements for more flexibility
The well-known low-projection panic exit fittings the PHA 2500 series have been further supplemented by a range of complete sets. Now also available are emergency escape motor locks with automatic locking action for solid doors, pierced in preparation for a europrofile cylinder with backsets from 55 to 80 millimetres, and also for Swiss round cylinders. A new anti-tamper fitting completes the range.
