New ‘Easy adapt’ latch guide/keeper and Vario and Lucky electric strikes from DORMA open up new possibilities

Ennepetal, Germany. DORMA is renowned for providing sophisticated solutions circling the door. Through constant innovation, moreover, it has acquired market leadership in four of its five main business segments. Frequently, the extensive know-how of DORMA is hidden in small, almost invisible components. More recent examples include the new electric strike case cover with the ‘Easy adapt’ latch guide/keeper, and the variable-voltage electric strikes Vario and Lucky. These complement the comprehensive range of components available for use with the DORMA systems TEGO Glass, TEGO Connect and TEGO Profile.

New ‘Easy adapt’ latch guide/keeper – also suitable for retrofitting
The new stainless steel ‘Easy adapt’ latch guide/keeper for DORMA electric strikes eliminates the need for an electric strike latch recess, enabling discreet integration within the door set. This also means that the door seal remains unbroken, improving thermal insulation and increasing safety in the event of a fire or gas leak. Installation is further facilitated by the integrated cable duct.

Various standard flat-type striking plates can also be installed without time-consuming matching to the DORMA electric strike. The adjustable latch can compensate for installation tolerances of up to four millimetres, ensuring fast and optimised integration in the door frame. Moreover, this system also eliminates the possibility of door latch seizure.

In accordance with the DORMA philosophy of facilitating easy upgrading, modification and retrofitting, the ‘Easy adapt’ feature can also be retrofitted to the DORMA electric strike models Standard, Smoke and Fire.

DORMA Vario and DORMA Lucky electric strikes
The latest DORMA electric strikes offer extensive application flexibility with a voltage range from 12 to 24 V and two robust screw-type terminals for fast cable connection. And there is no need to worry about polarity, nor about the installation position, because these components are perfectly symmetrical. The two models feature an integrated free-wheeling diode for safe surge protection in the event of overvoltage emanating from inline-connected systems such as an access control unit. With both the Vario and Lucky available in four versions (Standard, Fire, Smoke and Radius Latch), the stock-keeping requirement for installers is significantly reduced. Both electric strike models can also be provided with a checkback signalling capability for status monitoring.

The Lucky additionally offers an integrated solution comprising the previously separate Lucky Strike electronic module and the electro-mechanical unit. As a result, the advantages of the various voltage ratings used in electric strikes are available in just one combination model. With the integrated Lucky Strike control PCB, installers can select from a range of options including audible signal for door release or elimination of repetitive signalling noise in the permanent-open mode. In addition, the DORMA Lucky Strike is designed for pre-loads – i.e. side loads caused by, for example, wind pressure or door seals - of up to 200 Newtons (around 20 kg).
