DORMA presents new product range for the discerning private customer

Comfortable, convenient and high-quality solutions circling the door

Ennepetal/Germany. By introducing a Private Home exhibition module at BAU 2007 in Munich, DORMA will for the first time be addressing discerning private customers as a new target group. “Thanks to new technologies and high-quality design, we have created a new range of products with which we can offer to private households the kind of performance normally associated with commercial project construction,” explains Dr. Michael Schädlich, CEO of the DORMA Group. The trend towards high-quality solutions in private homes is unmistakable. “DORMA has the know-how, the product quality and the requisite design competence in order to satisfy the associated high demands,” assures the DORMA boss.

At the focus of this segment of the DORMA exhibition stand are the two automatic door operators CELSIUS and PORTEO. One of the true highlights for this year is the new VISUR glass door with which DORMA will once again be underlining its innovation capabilities at BAU 2007. High-quality shower systems round off the range of offerings for prestigious projects aligned to private clients.

Patented innovation: DORMA VISUR with no visible door fittings
In German, the surveying term “Visur” describes an unimpeded line of sight between two bearings. And the new VISUR system from DORMA does indeed offer a clear and uncluttered view. This patented double-action glass door concept, in which there are no hardware items in view, is a real innovation. With the DORMA VISUR system, the mechanisms for holding the door in place are concealed in the surrounding structure – enabled by a special glass machining operation to create two integral projections or “tongues”. More specifically, the functional components for operating the door, which may be of single or two-leaf design in glass of 10 millimetres or 12 millimetres thick, are installed in the transom or ceiling overhead, and in the floor at a depth of just 65 millimetres.

The revolutionary design of the DORMA VISUR doors offers total transparency and hence provides an integrating visual link between adjacent rooms while also creating an affective acoustic barrier between the two. As a “see all, hear nothing” solution, the VISUR will be especially attractive to clients who place particular store by transparency and spaciousness in their living areas, who perhaps wish to provide an inconspicuous barrier between their office and other rooms, or who simply delight in the extraordinary.

DORMA CELSIUS – a new dimension in sliding doors
Thanks to its particularly easy installation, the CELSIUS – a small, elegant sliding door operator from DORMA – is ideal for the residential segment. Its depth of just 56 millimetres enables installation between two dry walls as well as in-wall and on-wall fixing. The single-leaf mechanism serves to slide doors with opening widths of 875 millimetres, 1,000 millimetres and 1,125 millimetres. Its attractive price, easy handling and low-energy operation in which less than 2 watts of electricity are consumed in the stand-by mode, make the DORMA CELSIUS a first-choice solution for sliding doors where the focus is on discreet elegance, timeless design and absolute reliability. Even without a power input, the sliding door can be easily opened and closed. The DORMA CELSIUS is the ideal mover, whether for domestic sliding doors or for home office partitioning.

The PORTEO door assistant for residential and semi-professional applications
Growing demands for convenience and an ageing population mean that house owners, landlords and architects are facing new challenges. Yet it is not only wheelchair users and other people of limited mobility who will welcome the new DORMA PORTEO swing door operator as the perfect facilitator in the opening and closing of doors.

Yes, the PORTEO automatic “doorman” will actuate the doors without any user effort whatsoever. As a “plug-and-play” solution, it is also easy to install. With it, doors can be opened by giving them a gentle hint (Push&Go mode), or contact-free from a pushbutton or hand-held transmitter (PowerMotion). In all modes, the door then closes automatically. It can also be kept permanently open using a directly mounted switch or current impulse relay function.

The PORTEO door assistant is elegant, compact and quiet and is therefore ideal for residential rooms and areas of semi-professional usage, for example the home office or the small office for the self-employed, and even for doctors’ surgeries. Access control functions can also be integrated and a voice output is to be introduced shortly (“Door opening/Door closing”), enabling the blind and partially sighted to operate the system independently.

Tailored comfort and convenience with the new SO 750 cubicle system in the MANET design
The Private Home segment of the DORMA exhibition stand not only offers sophisticated solutions for doors. Also on show will be the new SO 750 shower cubicle system in the MANET design – bound to be of interest to prospective clients and architects alike. In cooperation with DORMA subsidiary GRAL, a standardised range of cubicle types has been developed encompassing seven prefabricated standard models ready for installation. This preselection capability saves time in installation and also unnecessary planning input. The MANET products are exclusively manufactured from wet room-grade stainless steel (DIN No. 1.4404/AISI 316L) for easy care and guaranteed long service life.

The company’s all-glass shower systems have been further upgraded through the introduction of the new hardware series BO 410 and BO 415. Thanks to an innovative rising hinge function, the door is lifted as it opens, enabling it to then close again under gravity. Consequently, the shower can also be used without a shower tray and be steplessly integrated within the bathroom. DORMA is exhibiting its solutions in the form of U-shaped shower cubicles with a side door and a variety of new fittings.
