BAU 2007: DORMA to showcase a comprehensive range of services

Extensive pre-sales and after-sales support
New service offerings for B2B customers and private clients

Ennepetal/Germany. DORMA is allotting to its wide range of services more than 100 square metres of its exhibition floor space at BAU 2007, Munich, underlining the importance it attaches to providing comprehensive assistance to architects, installers, fabricators, private clients and the approx. 750 DORMA System Partners. This manufacturer regards itself not just as a producer of high-quality solutions circling the door but also as a service provider that proactively supports its customers in their planning, sales, maintenance and follow-up business activities, thus providing them with tangible, welcome added value.

For example: DORMA’s electronic configurators accelerate the planning and ordering of products while an interlinked Internet Shop facilitates the purchasing operation, as does a new and comprehensive electronic offline catalogue. A completely new development is DORMA’s servicing, maintenance and modernisation programme for its own and third-party products, tailored to the requirements of specific building types such as banks and hospitals. Not least, DORMA supports small and medium-sized firms with refined CRM offerings, constantly updated further training programmes and the PROT€CT scheme protecting its partners from losses due to bad debts.

DORMA DOOR SELECT for easier sliding door planning and design
The planning and design of new-build and refurbishment projects invariably bring significant time and cost pressures. Complex solutions such as those encountered with automatic sliding doors require detailed knowledge of the door functions as well as structural, constructional and safety aspects, all of which have to be meticulously coordinated and combined within a cogent integrated solution. Significant aspects can often be overlooked in the process, giving rise to costly rectification requirements later on. In order to ensure that such “worst case scenarios” do not occur, DORMA supports the planning and design of its systems with electronic configurators that are precisely aligned to the characteristics of DORMA products.

DOOR SELECT facilitates the detailed planning of automatic sliding doors and “intermeshes” the architect with the installation company. With this software tool, the designer/specifier is able to plan the optimum problem solution for maximum cost efficiency and reliability, with detailed questions being clarified each step of the way.

Software for convenient, reliable configuration
The planning software DORMA SLIDES assists in the configuration of single and double-panel sliding doors with and without side screens and of both standard and emergency exit design. And the door system can be ideally adapted to practical requirements through the incorporation of appropriate accessories. The software generates all the necessary documentation such as the arrangement drawings, cable diagrams, specification texts and order forms, utilising the comprehensive DORMA product catalogue for the planning operation.

DORMA SWIDES is a new planning software tool for fast and easy configuration of single and double-leaf swing doors for standard, fire and smoke check applications. The package offers the same performance and capabilities as the DORMA SLIDES tool. And the DORMA DGES configurator has been created for professional, error-free planning of all-glass systems, fully glazed interior doors, all-glass sliding doors and horizontal glass sliding walls (HSW). It now also includes new all-glass shower systems and the OGRO CREATE bespoke handle design programme. With this tool, architects, specifiers and designers can respond even more quickly to enquiries and save a considerable amount of time and money in their concepting work. The software also enables its users to build up a comprehensive and individual database.

DORMA commits to eCommerce
DORMA has also underpinned its service competence with an extended eCommerce offering. Customers with no enterprise resource planning (ERP) system of their own can connect via the Internet to the “anywhere, any time” facilities of the DORMA eShop, which will also be presented at BAU 2007. This online shop offers all the usual advantages such as a catalogue function, fast ordering, an order history, availability data and delivery status. It also provides a direct link to the DGES configurator. If customers have any problems or queries, they can contact their DORMA representative directly or HQ via a hotline (toll-free in Germany). Customers that have their own ERP system are able to avail themselves of all the admin advantages of a direct link to the DORMA eShop with updated master data available at a click.

DORMA likewise offers an offline resource in the form of its easyConnect USB pen (memory stick) for providing all the information needed by mobile users. With the update-capable product catalogue, orders can also be handled in a particularly customer-friendly manner. Discounts can be implemented and calculated down to the article level. A configurator link integrating the DGES is also available. In this way, DORMA is able to support the sales planning of field service employees as well as assist in other activities such as in-house fairs and exhibitions.

After-sales service for effective support
As market leader, DORMA recognised very early on how important it is to offer services that go beyond the sale and installation of its products. And the DORMA philosophy is that it does not matter whether the products requiring service are from itself or from other manufacturers. DORMA’s service engineers are familiar with all the relevant technologies and can hence provide technical support for virtually any conceivable product, from automatic sliding doors and swing door systems to space savers and industrial doors. Modernisation services geared to upgrading doors to the latest state of the art are also available from DORMA Service.

Specifically aligned to the requirements of certain sectors, DORMA offers service packages for banks, hospitals and similar. These include complete door management and service ID management concepts whereby all the information relating to each door is stored ready for retrieval whenever required.

DORMA Service also ensures the safety of automatic door systems. Its large complement of qualified service engineers – operating in one of the densest networks in the industry – ensures that malfunctions are remedied quickly, reliably and cost-effectively.

Following the introduction of DORMA’s SAP CRM and SAP Mobile Service systems, its service engineers are now able to access the current data and fault messages of a door system via their in-car terminal unit. This also enables them to analyse malfunctions in advance of their arrival. Materials can be ordered “on the move” and service reports/completion notices are likewise transmitted in an instant. Because so many manual operations are eliminated, DORMA is able to offer its customers an even faster and more dependable service.
