New standard closer TS 90 Impulse
DORMA cam technology now also available in the entry-level segment
Ennepetal/Germany. The demands on function and design in door closers have, until now, given rise to two technologically clearly distinguishable categories:
- the entry-level segment with conventional rack and pinion mechanisms and
- the medium and premium segments with slide channel and service-proven
cam technology offering the undoubted convenience of a rapidly decreasing
opening torque.
The visually attractive slide channel has also, in the meantime, become a feature of the rack-and-pinion door closers, although these are less suited to such a system owing to the unfavourable force profile.
High-tech in the price-sensitive segment
DORMA has created a new standard door closer under the designation TS 90 Impulse. Celebrating its world premiere at the Cologne IEM, this product offers a number of innovative features in terms of both its design and technology. This competitively priced slide-channel closer with a spring strength of EN 3 features the famous DORMA heart-shaped cam actuator more typically associated with the premium segment served by DORMA's ITS 96 and TS 93/92/91 closers.
The TS 90 Impulse marries this technology to an attractive styling to create a truly a top product for the standard-equipment segment. The unique, compact design with a length of 246 mm, a height of 56 mm and a depth of 46 mm minimises the body volume to precisely the space required for the internal closer mechanism. This results in a cast aluminium casing that tapers towards a narrow front face, with bearing blocks extending from it top and bottom for the closer spindle that operates the slide arm. The spindle in turn is actuated by the famous heart-shaped DORMA cam to ensure that the door can be opened with the utmost ease. Like the closer body, the slide channel profile also tapers towards the front, describing a segment curve.
Concealed by the cover assembly, the TS 90 Impulse can be fixed directly without a mounting backplate, and with four different installation positions, the same unit is capable of covering virtually every application. The closing speed can be adjusted to requirements via two control valves in the ranges 160-15° and 15-0°. The closing action is characterised by its smoothness and consistency together with its total immunity to temperature fluctuations. This non-handed closer is available in the colours silver and white (similar to RAL 9016) and corresponds to corrosion class 3.
The TS 90 Impulse made by DORMA is manufactured in accordance with the conditions specified in ISO 9001, is tested for compliance with EN 1154 and, following completion of the test procedure, will carry the CE mark.
