DORMA and KONE to cooperate in the international service business
Cooperation agreement provides for launch in Germany and Finland as pilot markets
Ennepetal. The international door systems supplier DORMA and the listed Finnish manufacturer of elevators, escalators and container and materials handling systems KONE have agreed a strategic alliance in relation to the service business for automatic doors. As DORMA CEO Dr. Michael Schädlich announced, DORMA and KONE have identified an opportunity for more effectively satisfying what is growing international demand for a combined product and service portfolio based on a single-source supply capability. The two companies therefore see significant advantages in co-operating and exploiting their mutually complementary competencies and service portfolios.
"In addition to its service network, DORMA will be able in future to collaborate with the global KONE network, and thus reach significantly more customers with an integral product and service package," explained Dr Schädlich. In DORMA, KONE has a world class technology partner capable of significantly strengthening the performance capability of KONE's "Building Doors" division, particularly in the replacement and spare parts business. In addition, the combination of resources of the two companies offers an outstanding platform for the successful management of major projects such as airports.
As the markets in the construction-related business traditionally exhibit major national differences (specifications, distribution structures, etc.) and thus require differentiated business models, DORMA and KONE will initially launch the alliance in Germany and Finland as pilot markets. The cooperation is then to be successively expanded into further markets.
This cooperation agreement will not result in any changes under company law at either DORMA or KONE.
