Glass design and finishes
In terms of the aesthetic requirements that it can satisfy, glass has an almost unique status amongst the range of materials available for wall and partition construction. The individual designs that can be applied to the glass surfaces enable architecturally creative and interesting ideas to be converted into impressive reality. The possibilities include sandblasted effects, screen printing and decorative transparencies in a wide range of different shapes and colours. An individual, artistic design involving, for example, adhesive-bonded glassy polymer motifs or airbrush effects round off the extensive options available.
In addition to the added elegance, certain functional aspects can be ideally satisfied by providing a specific finish to the glass surface - for example to achieve limited visibility or total opacity.

Possible glass finishes:

  • Sandblasting
Sandblasting is an abrasive process. The glass surface is obscured by the mechanical effect of an impinging abradant (e.g. corundum) propelled by compressed air. This technique produces a discrete, white-frosted appearance known at matting. The surface appears to be crystalline and gives rise to significant light diffusion. The sandblasted surface is protected by a Clearshield coating.
Various special effects can be achieved by selection of different blasting techniques.
  • Screen printing
Screen printing involves application of the ink onto the glass surface through a tight-meshed screen, and is performed on a horizontal screen printing table. The ink can be either fully opaque or translucent.
Screen printed finishes can be applied in a wide range of different designs, shapes and colours. Ornamental adornments, symbols, company logos etc. can be created with virtually no limitations in terms of shape and colour (RAL shades) and can be fully harmonised with, or adapted to, customised design specifications.
  • Artistic designs
Glass surfaces can also be provided with individually created works of art.
Again, the possibilities in terms of the methods available are wide indeed. Adhesive-bonded glassy polymer elements or transparencies, air brush techniques and painting are just some of the processes that can be applied in order to create the desired effect on the glass. The glass partition thus created is then unique to your project.
