The connection possibilities vary depending on the operator type used. a) ES90: A floating NO contact can be found on expansion module EM3/terminals 25 and 26. b) ES90-FST2D: A floating NO contact can be found on expansion module EM5/terminals 16 and 17. c) CS / CS-FST2D: A floating NO contact can be found directly on the control unit/terminals 19 and 20. d) ES and CS EC2: There is no bell contact provided on the control unit. This function can, however, be implemented via an additional special photoelectric cell/light barrier. Please talk to our sales advisors or our Application Engineering department.
There are various possibilities: a) If the door remains open without any fault signal, it may be that the photoelectric cells/light barriers are being interrupted by water droplets => Clean and dry the light barrier lenses with a soft cloth. It may also be that the external radar motion detector is being activated by the falling raindrops (detected as a moving object) => Have the motion detector adjusted by our service department. b) If the door is opened and a fault signal is being emitted => The number of causes is numerous, so please inform our service department.
The red LED shows the presence of a fault. The fault can often be eliminated by switching the system on and off several times at the program switch (see the relevant operating instructions for the door in question). If the fault signal is then immediately repeated, consult the troubleshooting section of the operating instructions in order to rectify the problem. If you are unsuccessful, please inform our service department.

The panel height and opening width are mainly restricted by the maximum permissible panel weights. These in turn depend on the operator being used. In addition, however, it will be necessary to remain within certain height/width ratios that have been specified in order to ensure the smooth and low-wear running behaviour of the door system. You will find guide values in the relevant technical brochures. For additional information, please consult our sales advisors who will be glad to assist.
The adjustment possibilities depend on the operator used. EC2 operators can be adjusted without any external devices or aids directly at the control unit. ES 90 and CS standard and emergency exit operators (FST) can only be adjusted using a special programming unit, the DORMA Hand Terminal, used by DORMA service technicians.
A prerequisite for an airlock control system is the use of suitable operator types (standard operators only, no EC2 or emergency exit systems). The electric circuitry can be found in the relevant circuit diagram for the system. The requisite programming is performed using the DORMA Hand Terminal. Airlock controls in emergency exit doors (FST) can only be implemented provided they have been individually approved! A corresponding special control system is also necessary in such cases.
Generally, no special measures are required. In the case of all emergency exit doors (FST systems), and also in the case of certain standard systems, rechargeable batteries are provided in the operator for power back-up. These may gradually discharge over a lengthy period and thus lead to malfunctions. In the case of emergency exit doors, faults can be avoided by providing manual support for the door movement during the first opening cycle. If a fault signal should nevertheless be emitted, please inform our service department.
This door behaviour indicates a failed battery test (back-up batteries discharged or defective). Following switch-on and opening of the door, the door initially closes approx. 10 cm and then attempts to re-open under battery power. If you manually push at this moment, the door will resume operation and recharge the battery. If the fault should recur (immediately or after just a few hours), you can assume that the battery is defective and it will then have to be replaced by the service department.
A clear distinction has to be made here between "Maintenance" and "Inspection". Inspections are specified in the standards and are mandatory - they either have to be carried out once a year or, in the case of emergency exit sliding doors, twice a year. Maintenance/servicing operations are generally not compulsory by law but are rather governed by the recommendations of the manufacturer. In its operating instructions, DORMA recommends that doors be serviced twice a year.
As our current range of DORMA sliding doors are compliant with the provisional European standards prEN 12650-1 and 2, it is possible to dispense with the installation of an emergency command device (emergency stop pushbutton).
The connection leads are generally fed in from the side. The connection side depends on the operator type and is illustrated in the relevant technical brochure or cable diagram.
Generally, a local glazier can carry out the repair. In the case of emergency exit doors in particular, however, it is advisable to inform the DORMA service department so that any further damage can be identified and correct adjustment of the panels (safety clearances!) can be carried out.
Irrespective of the time of day or night, emergency exit sliding doors may only be locked if there is no one left in the building! Alternative arrangements may only be implemented subject to the specific approval of the relevant building control authorities, and this will only be given on a case by case basis. |
