MUTO – DORMA’s new manual sliding door system

Surprisingly elegant and compact design, despite integration of versatile features for convincing convenience

MUTO – DORMA’s new manual sliding door system

Ennepetal, 19.01.2015. A slim, elegant body, compact and clear with sharp edges and a small recess for the logo clip: This is the style representing DORMA’s new design language and it is perfectly implemented in the MUTO sliding door system. Offering aluminum finishes in white, silver and niro, MUTO can be matched to virtually any architectural interior. Hidden from the eye of the beholder is a surprising variety of technical features, all geared to convenience in everyday use. Without the need for a power supply, the door can be self-closing. And the locking device can be operated by remote control or from a wall switch, avoiding the need for floor locks. The DORMOTION damping device decelerates the door panels as they approach their open or closed position, taking them into the end stops. A status indicator can also be integrated to enable monitoring of the door from anywhere in the building. As door requirements change, the damping, locking, and status indicator equipment can be retrofitted in the MUTO COMFORT profile from the front at a later date.

Offering standard wall and ceiling mounting and installation in suspended ceilings, the system is designed to serve a wide field of applications. MUTO COMFORT with roller carriers for glass as standard can – with the appropriate adapters – also carry timber panels. On the other hand, in the MUTO BASIC system the roller carriers can be directly fixed to timber panels, while adapters allow the use of glass panels here as well. The weight or number and movement patterns of the installed door panels can also be varied according to requirements. The range extends from small single panels of 50 kg or biparting panels up to 150 kg per panel, with synchronized movement also possible. In the BASIC system, a panel may even weigh up to 200 kg. For extra wide openings with little lateral space, telescopic moving panels are a suitable solution in both systems.

Laminated safety glass with the availability of special interlayers offers a number of advantages with respect to both function and, of course, customized glass design. Especially in sliding doors with their kinetic energy, achieving a secure hold of such glass elements is of decisive importance. And here, with its new Clamp & Glue technology, DORMA offers a reliable solution. The retaining fittings are glued to either side of the glass surface, providing a lasting hold, even in the event of fading contact pressure.

Hidden from the eye of the beholder MUTO provides a surprising variety of technical features, all geared to convenience in everyday use.
