The State and District Court in Düsseldorf is one of the largest courthouses in Germany – in keeping with the building’s role in the administration of justice. With a number of unique features, the building complex also makes an architectural statement: its natural stone façade provides a harmonious link between the interior and the exterior. On one side of the road, the building is split into two sections connected by a glass bridge. A large open-plan staircase is a visual highlight in the multi-level foyer. The two integrated sections of the building both boast a light-flooded interior.
Combined Forces Training Centre – a NATO training centre subordinated to the Transformation Command in Norfolk, set up in 2004 in Bydgoszcz, is to train officers from NATO countries and from countries cooperating within the Partnership for Peace program as well as to disseminate stat-of-the-art technologies and solutions with respect to tactical operations. The Centre organises lectures, seminars, conferences and practical training for officers.
The literally outstanding new city hall—with its prominent clock tower and surrounding 12-acre park—properly reflects Greer’s status as one of South Carolina’s fastest growing communities. Complementing the city hall is a new 37,000 sq ft courthouse nearby that also houses the police force. The town’s successful drive to modernize its civic space has prepared Greer to meet expanding public service needs for 50 years to come.
