The first BAU China Congress took place in Beijing, China, on July 8 and 9, 2014. Over 3,000 visitors from 10 countries attended. DORMA was one of the famous European brands participating in this leading trade fair of architecture, materials and systems of the world, for their first landing in China. The exhibition showed initial success with a good mix of high quality visitors. Many visitors to the DORMA booth were end customers and influencers, such as developers, architects, façade contractors and decoration companies.
“I am pleased that DORMA received very positive feedback at BAU China. We are seen as a leading player in the industry with a commitment to high quality and innovation,” said Area APA President Dieter Sichelschmidt. “For years, DORMA participated in BAU Munich as a key player, and today, at BAU China, we bring premium access solutions and services closer to the customers in this country. Customers in China are getting more and more educated and demanding in the choice of architectural products, and that is where our premium solutions have an advantage.”
Dieter Sichelschmidt continued, “Our booth design provides a first-hand experience. Customers can touch and see what makes DORMA different.” The DORMA booth was designed to show and share ideas and solutions despite the standard small area allocated by the organizer. Instead of showing products, we showed solutions: three fully functional examples of barrier free access were displayed with comfort, safety and control, enabled by a combination of DORMA automatics, door closers and fittings, and EAC products.
At the booth, presentations were also delivered with an innovative touch. There was no giant projection screen and speakers addressing to a broad, non-selective audience. Instead, discreet presentations with high focus and attention were delivered via synchronized presentation on ipad mini and headsets. DORMA associates shared expert knowledge on interesting topics for developers and architects, such as - How to design disabled toilet for Hong Kong airport that meet barrier-free access requirements? How to compare and select among various national standards such as EN, ANSI and GB? What are the automatic access solutions in modern buildings for hygiene, safety and efficiency?
“We constantly challenge ourselves to do things innovatively, to set ourselves apart from the crowd. As a leader in the industry, we need to keep innovating and exceeding expectations, not just in terms of quality and performance, but also in the way we interact with customers,” said Francis Leung, Region China Director.
