Ennepetal. With the acquisition of Silicon Valley company Farpointe Data through DORMA Americas effective as of [DATUM], DORMA has not just added a critical new element in its developing U.S. presence. The company has also crucially strengthened its innovation potential, being one of DORMA’s core values. Farpointe Data is among the U.S. premier innovators in radio frequency identification (RFID) for access control and will thus enable DORMA to provide its customers with superior, integrated designs and enhanced performance from access readers, cards and tags. The acquisition reinforces DORMA’s reputation as a technological trendsetter in access system design, technology and manufacturing.
“We are keen to invest in innovation and currently have a full pipeline of new products due to be released in the next few months. In our product portfolio, the Electronic Access Control belongs to the business fields with greatest strategic importance and is an essential growth driver. An important factor of success is the development of innovative products in line with market requirements,“ says DORMA CEO Thomas P. Wagner. “Against this background, the acquisition of Farpointe is of strategic importance for us – not just for the American markets, but also worldwide. We will, for example, benefit hugely on a global scale from Farpointe‘s know-how in the field of credentials.“
Advanced RFID technology is a Farpointe hallmark. From the company’s low-power technologies to its innovative approach to reader and credential security, Farpointe’s history is marked by aggressive investment and successful development. The company’s products, designed for quick and easy installation, have demonstrated years of reliable, trouble-free service.
These products meet or exceed the requirements of a broad range of applications, including physical and logical access, secure identity, and vehicle identification. Among many categories of end users are airports, hospitals, universities, tech installations and government facilities. Farpointe's products are widely available from an actively growing global network of system OEMs and international distributors.
“It would be hard to imagine a better-realized combination than DORMA and Farpointe Data with customer and channel synergies being apparent from the start.” comments DORMA AME President Wil VandeWiel. “Our strategic acquisition of Canadian technology innovator RCI in November 2012 already extended our portfolio of electronic access control products for the American markets. With the new acquisition, we are continuing down this path, as the expanded product portfolio that Farpointe brings will be another immense competitive asset for DORMA.”
“The team at DORMA clearly demonstrates the ability to couple growth with careful attention to market channels, all the while adding value to their customers,” adds Scott Lindley, President of Farpointe Data, who will join the DORMA Americas Leadership Team. “We are very excited to be partnered with DORMA, and are confident they are the right company to support Farpointe’s next level of growth.”
Since 2003, Farpointe Data, a Silicon Valley company, has been a leader in the design and manufacture of radio frequency identification (RFID) products.
