In line with DORMA Region Far East’s strategy to increase presence in all its key markets in the region, PT DORMA Far East opened its first showroom in Indonesia on June 7, 2014. Located at a popular commercial and retail hub in Kebayoran Lama of Jakarta, the showroom was opened by Dieter Sichelschmidt, Area APA President, Rowan Tan, Regional Director Far East, and Sven Hietkamp, Sales Director PT DORMA. The event was attended by more than 80 invited guests, which included developers, building specifiers, contractors and distributors.
“With a population of 250 million, and a positive GDP development, Indonesia presents the greatest growth potential for DORMA in Region Far East,” said Dieter Sichelschmidt. “This showroom is an important step in our presence-building strategy, and it reflects the evolution of DORMA from a product supplier in the past to an integrated premium access solutions and services provider.”
Region Far East is counting on Indonesia to contribute significantly to its growth strategy. As Rowan Tan stressed, “In Southeast Asia, our focus is on Indonesia. PT DORMA Far East [the legal entity of DORMA in Indonesia] will continue to increase its presence in other major cities in Indonesia in order to be closer to its customers.” With the establishment of this showroom, DORMA is starting a new chapter of its business in Indonesia, which can be traced all the way back to about 30 years ago. In his speech to the guests at the opening ceremony, Rowan Tan thanked all the stakeholders involved in DORMA’s business growth in the past, and looked forward to their continuing support in the many years to come.
Adjacent to the office of DORMA in Jakarta, the showroom has an area of about 90 square meters. The design reflects the new DORMA brand image launched since 2010, and it integrates the DORMA showroom concept well with displays of functional door solutions. Guests at the opening event were particularly impressed by the showroom’s modern concept and uncluttered layout despite its modest size. As Sven Hietkamp said, “This showroom will not only display premium products and DORMA system solutions, but will also serve as a meeting point for our clients to discuss projects, and for us to propose DORMA premium solutions to enable better buildings. It will serve as a communication center - an interactive place for presentations, training and events.”
The theme of the opening event was “East meets West in Premium Access Solutions and Services”, which symbolized the offering of access solutions meeting local needs in Indonesia by DORMA, the global company originating from Germany. During the event, traditional Indonesian and German dance performances were staged, and the program ended with a sumptuous buffet lunch of Indonesian and German food.
The showroom and the opening event were the results of hard work and collaboration of DORMA associates in Jakarta, Singapore, Shanghai and Ennepetal. In particular, the efforts of the local Indonesian team, who had taken up the project in addition to their duties in the day to day business, deserve special mention.
