In line with the DORMA 2020 Growth Strategy of increasing its presence in key countries and top-cities, Region Far East has established a full-fledged entity in Philippines. Officially incorporated in July 2013, DORMA Philippines Corp. is now operating out of its present office in Legaspi Village in Makati City, Manila. Another smaller office is located in Cebu.
DORMA is not new to the Philippines, having operated as a one-man Representative Office in Manila for almost the last 20 years. Since then, it has grown from strength to strength and has helped DORMA Far East to achieve a consistent growth in its business year after year for the last 14 years.
“The establishment of DORMA Philippines is a clear indication that the company recognizes the potential business opportunities which the Philippines market is able to offer to a supplier of Premium Access Solutions and Services like DORMA”, says Rowan Tan, Regional Director Far East. Especially the market in the megacity Manila – with 12 million inhabitants and a huge growth potential in the next years– offers a wide range of opportunities for DORMA. To increase our presence in these worldwide megacities is an important aspect of our growth strategy. “These huge metropolitan areas are our future markets, therefore DORMA aims to have subsidiaries in 60% of the estimated 30 megacities worldwide”, says Dieter Sichelschmidt, Area President APA, and illustrates the chances in Manila: “Looking at the Manila Skyline alone would give one the impression that the building industry in general, and the residential building industry in particular, is moving upmarket with many beautiful buildings being completed recently, and many more being built currently.”
DORMA Philippines Corp., which has 7 employees now, is capably headed by country manager Hector Mateo, who is a professional architect by training. Having been on the “other side of the fence”, Hector recognizes the need for top-notch customer service to complement our top-notch products. He is a strong advocate of putting the customers FIRST in everything that we do and he believes in the chances of the newly established entity. “I am confident that the establishment of DORMA Philippines Corp. is going to help me and my team to pursue many areas of growth which would not have been possible with the Representative Office status of the past.”
Rowan Tan and Dieter Sichelschmidt are equally confident that the Philippines team will rise to the challenges ahead and deliver sustainable growth as the Company journeys towards 2020 and beyond.
